Why do some stories stay with us?
Maybe it’s because they tell us something true about ourselves—something we didn’t have the words for until we saw it on the page. Maybe it’s because, for a moment, they let us slip into another life, another world, and come back changed.
I’ve been chasing those kinds of stories my whole life.
At 19, I moved to LA to write movies. I spent years in the trenches of film and TV—writing scripts, managing productions, editing projects—always finding new ways to tell stories that mattered. But life isn’t a straight line, and neither is a creative journey.
Now, I’m writing novels—books that feel cinematic, visceral, and unshakable. The kind that grab you by the collar, make you feel something, and don’t let go. Some are fantasy, full of vampires, Greek gods, and forgotten myths. Others are raw, modern coming-of-age dramas. But at their core, they all explore what it means to struggle, to survive, to find something worth fighting for.
And if there’s one thing I’ve learned—about writing, about life—it’s this: there’s always more to the story.
That’s why, at 43, I went back to college.
I’m currently earning my Creative Writing degree at Butler County Community College and will transfer to Slippery Rock University next fall—taking classes alongside my two youngest kids, which is both surreal and amazing. It’s proof that stories don’t end when you think they will. They keep unfolding. They surprise you. And sometimes, they bring you full circle.
Like how I married my first date from seventh grade—the woman of my dreams, my lobster. The best stories don’t just happen on the page. Sometimes, we get to live them.
For me, that’s writing. And if you’re here, maybe you feel the same way.
Write truth. Inspire love.
Come Write With Me.
Every good story starts somewhere. Maybe you’re a writer chasing a dream. Maybe you just love getting lost in a great book. Or maybe you’re here because stories mean something to you—because they’ve shaped you the way they’ve shaped me.
If that sounds like you, pull up a chair.
I share my thoughts on storytelling, writing, and the creative process over on The Writer’s Table, my Substack. It’s where I talk about the lessons I’ve learned (the hard way), the stories that won’t leave me alone, and the wild, unpredictable journey of making words matter.
